My trip to Dakar with Buoyant Travel was honestly unforgettable. Everything was so thoughtfully curated. From the fabulous hotel stay to an itinerary that struck the perfect balance between culture, relaxation, and connection. I loved that we had the chance to share a homecooked meal with a local Senegalese family, such a rare and intimate experience that gave real depth to the journey. From the rich history of Gorée Island to vibrant markets, soulful food, and meaningful conversations, the whole trip felt intentional, joyful, and deeply rooted in culture. Buoyant Travel truly delivered something unique. This was more than a holiday, it was an experience that will stay with me. ✨

This is my 2nd Buoyant trip and it is definitely not my last. It was good mix of education about the culture/people of Salvador and nightlife fun. It sometimes can be hard to gather a group of strangers from different walks of life but when it’s a Buoyant trip it’s ALWAYS good vibes! shout out to Bri for being so down to earth, so welcoming, and helping folks across the diaspora connect with each other.

A First-Time Traveler’s Dream – My Unforgettable Trip with Buoyant Travel! As a first time traveler venturing outside the country, I can confidently say that Buoyant Travel has been an absolute blessing. All of my worries leading up to the trip were instantly put to rest the moment my feet touched the soil of Accra, Ghana. From the very beginning, Briona’s attention to detail made preparing for this trip effortless. She guided me through every step of the pre-travel process—from securing my visa and vaccines to booking my flight—so seamlessly that I felt like I had done this a dozen times before! Once I arrived in Ghana, Briona’s deep knowledge and genuine connections with the locals made me feel less like a visitor and more like I belonged. Each excursion was thoughtfully curated and an absolute joy, making every moment feel special and effortless. Briona’s passion and dedication to connecting first time and seasoned travelers with incredible, often-overlooked destinations truly shine through. Thanks to her, I had countless eye opening and healing experiences during my time in Ghana. Leaving was bittersweet, but I know this is just the first of many trips I’ll be booking with Buoyant Travel. Ghana 2025 was the highlight of my year, and I have Briona to thank for that! 🇬🇭💗🙏🏽 If you’re thinking about exploring a new country but don’t know where to start, take this as your sign—Buoyant Travel will take care of you every step of the way!

Ghana with Buoyant was a no-brainer. The website covered every single detail from visa and vaccine requirements to a packing list. If that’s not streamlined enough, Briona was always available to address any questions or concerns. Buoyant’s rapport with the local community provided my group with experiences you cannot find with a Google search. This was a meticulously curated trip that illuminated the beauty of Accra’s people, cuisine, and culture. Try the waakye, try the fresh fish, add the shito…just trust me. Ghana was the trip of a lifetime and if you’re lucky like me you’ll also return with the best souvenir of all- the friendships made along the way.

Wonderful experience with a wonderful group ! Briona was such a warm and welcoming host. This was my first travel group and I was quite nervous but I am so glad I took the risk and this was my first travel group experience. The activities were well thought out, from good tour to Afro Punk to the historical tour of beautiful Salvador, I truly enjoyed myself.

I was so excited to see that Buoyant was taking an inaugural trip to Dakar, Senegal after following Briona's journey online for several years. I was BLOWN AWAY by the experience from start to finish. As a frequent traveler, I had very high expectations before coming on this trip but Briona & Buoyant exceeded all of them! Every activity on the itinerary was so well curated and I love that we experienced activities off the "beaten path." The accommodations were excellent and the city map she provided was extremely well researched. Throughout the trip, Briona was communicative and kept a cool head even when some activities were outside of her control. I enjoyed the guides and meeting the other ladies on the trip. Most importantly, I felt so inspired throughout the trip and grateful that we were able to support local and Black-owned businesses throughout our stay; Briona nailed it! All this to say, I HIGHLY recommend Buoyant Travel for Black women travelers who want to experience luxury while exploring cool across the Diaspora! I can't wait to travel with Buoyant again!

I really enjoyed my time in Salvador , Brazil. Briana picked a great location and curated an amazing trip. The food and people we experienced were top tier. The help to navigate through the airport was so helpful. And she built in just enough free time for us to explore, shop, etc. I’ll definitely be recommending travel to Salvador and traveling with Buoyant.

Salvador was my second Buoyant trip (the first one was Ghana), and it was yet another truly unforgettable experience! The communication and level of attention and detail from the team were top-tier. The activities were diverse (food, culture, nightlife, educational tours, etc.), and the group was so much fun! If you're wondering if you should book a trip with Buoyant to Salvador (or anywhere else really) this is your sign! ❤️

This trip was amazing! I am so happy I booked it. Ghana in December was a vibe! The Afro Future festival, excursions and nightlife were all so much fun. The hotel was beautiful and situated in lovely Osu, in the heart of Accra. Briona, our host was so welcoming and friendly. Thank you Buoyant Travel for an unforgettable experience!

This was my first time doing a group tour, and I'm glad I did it with Buoyant Travel. The group wasn't so big that I didn't get personalized attention, and it wasn't so small that I felt smothered. As someone who likes to have time to do my own thing, the trip was very flexible with how I spent my time and the activities I wanted to participate in. I really enjoyed the pace and diversity of activities that Buoyant and the guides curated. I wouldn't hesitate to book a trip again.

This was my first trip to Africa and I wanted to not worry about planning a thing...traveling with Buoyant Travel did just that. All I had to do was bring myself! I met a wonderful group of women who love traveling and it was a pleasure getting to spend the new year with them. I highly recommend this travel group it was more than worth it <3

This is my second group trip with Buoyant (my first being Detty December in Ghana) and this trip to Brazil was so amazing, it exceeded any expectations I had! The itinerary was expertly curated along local tour guides to provide us with the best service, activities, events and schedule for everything. My favorite activities were the beach favela tour which set the vibe for a completely immersive experience in Brazil and the boat day on the last day which was a great way to close out this trip! I will always recommend traveling with Buoyant (or booking any of their other services) as it will be a guaranteed good time every time and like I always say: once a Buoyant Baddie, always a Buoyant Baddie 💅🏾

Top Three best group trips I’ve been on. It’s top 2. So let me preface this review by saying if you’re thinking about it; you should follow your first mind and do it. Salvador 2024 was my first Buoyant Travel experience and I am thoroughly impressed! Even before reaching Salvador de Bahia, BT was communicative, organized, and overall preparing me wonderfully for an incredible experience! From the carefully curated eats and drinks to activities to our lodging to our local guides and content creators and everything in-between, BT is the epitome of valuing creating precious memories — not just artificial aesthetics! My journey to Salvador was a bit troublesome due to the airlines that I booked with (NOT because of BT) but every step of the way even miles away, Briona ensured that I was looked after and still excited once I finally DID reach Salvador; she truly does care about her kinfolk — not their dollars. Her attentiveness and compassion really meant/mean a lot to me! I had a ball alongside incredible folk — none of whom I knew beforehand but am now looking forward to seeing around the world! I can’t wait to book with Buoyant Travel for another trip but now as an alumna ^.* BUOYANT BADDIEEE SIGNING OFF xoxo

Thank you Buoyant Travel for hosting this trip, I had a fantastic time! I don’t really have any suggestions outside of having snacks for long tour days. I think you did an amazing job, even when things went left I still felt like I was on vacation. You handled every incident that happened outside of your control with such professionalism. I appreciated the planned activities, accommodations (the scenery of the hotel was beautiful), transportation, and meals. I loved how there was both fun activities as well as educational activities. It was pretty awesome knowing arrangements were made for the day and all I had to do was get on the bus.

I joined Bri and seven other Black women for Detty December in Ghana 2022 and it was one of the best trips I've ever been on! I have traveled widely mostly/usually solo, but I couldn't have imagined a better trip for my first group retreat. Bri planned absolutely everything and all I had to do was pay and show up. She had been to Ghana 3x previous to our group trip and is so knowledgeable, prepared, kind and caring for everyone in the group, so I had no doubts that we were in good hands with her (and Cycy who led all the daytime group tours). For someone who plans all their own travel it was really nice to change roles and not have to worry about much. I got to take in all the wonders of Ghana from the nature, food, people and parties and fell in love with the country. I had such a fun time that I'm already considering going back for December 2023! I highly recommend booking with Buoyant Travel for any future trips, it's a guaranteed good time.

I had a great time on this trip and am looking forward to traveling with Buoyant again! Bri curated a great group of travelers, arranged beautiful and centrally located accommodations and special activities. The group day trips were well organized, with enough time to enjoy and not feel rushed going from one place to the next while still leaving plenty of time to explore on our own. Afrochella, the waterfall photo shoot, the tour of the city, and our visit to Cape Coast were my favorites. I appreciated Bri's communication throughout the trip, keeping us updated on schedules and changes, and checking in. Also, having a photographer, driver, tour guides, and local connections went a long way, especially while shopping and eating local foods. Everything, and I mean everything I tried, was delicious, from tilapia and banku to okra stew, light soup, waakye, fresh fruits, and bofrot – I enjoyed it all. At the beginning of the trip, I told the ladies I was looking forward to eating and dancing my way through Ghana, and I did just that! I couldn't have asked for a better first group trip with beautiful Black women from across the globe to experience the culture, company, and celebration that is December in Ghana. Thank you, Buoyant, for the experience!

This was my third trip with Buoyant Travel, and just like the others, it was unforgettable. The accommodation was top-notch, the communication was seamless from start to finish, and the attention to detail was next level. The Buoyant team even surprised me with a massage to celebrate both my birthday and being a 3x Buoyant alumna—how thoughtful is that?! That kind of care is rare with group trips. I got to try so many new things in Senegal, from food to unique activities, all curated by Buoyant. One of the things I appreciate most is their commitment to supporting Black-owned businesses throughout trips, and this experience was no exception. If you're wondering whether to book a trip, take this as your sign. Do it!

This trip offered a chance to experience a new home away from home, with ease and organisation before, during, and after the journey. Most of all, it provided quality time with an amazing group of women! This was all thanks to Buoyant and its incredible Black female founder, who works tirelessly behind the scenes and on the ground—seemingly at the speed of light—to curate a thoughtful and culturally rich experience. I could not recommend this ENOUGH. You’ll just have to experience it for yourself to truly feel the magic! In the lead-up to the trip, information was shared openly, and assistance was readily available for any questions during the visa process. Timelines were shared well in advance, with clear date markers indicating what to prepare and when. Closer to departure, a WhatsApp group was created, fostering an easy rapport amongst the group and providing a wealth of additional resources—from packing lists to detailed breakdowns of each day. There was never any confusion about what to expect. We even received guidance on navigating the airport upon arrival and handling transfers on the ground. Arriving in Ghana was seamless. As expected, a transfer was waiting, and I was whisked away to the hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the ever-helpful and exceptional front-of-house team, who took my bags and directed me straight to my room. Like magic, they had been pre-advised of my arrival, ensuring no time was wasted in getting me settled. In my room, I discovered a curated selection of local Ghanaian products, beautifully presented in a Buoyant tote bag—something I used throughout the trip and continue to use in my day-to-day life. On the ground, the scheduled activities were rich and varied. The tour group was a well-balanced mix of women, making every group activity full of fun and laughter! The itinerary ensured a rich cultural immersion, allowing us to explore different parts of Accra and beyond, all while being catered to through Buoyant’s network of local suppliers. Their goodwill and strong relationships translated into the care shown to each of us, ensuring that our money was invested back into the community. I especially enjoyed the photography organised by Buoyant that was provided by David. I will remember the kindness offered by his team member Ruth. Beyond the planned activities, independence was encouraged. We were equipped with food delivery apps, Uber, and a Buoyant map packed with a wealth of recommended locations, making exploration effortless. Buoyant had also recommended travel insurance before the trip. When I had a bad fall, they ensured I knew which hospital to visit for care. I was met by friendly doctors and nurses who treated me tenderly and even remembered me when I returned for a follow-up. What was an unpleasant experience was softened by the kindness of the people of Accra, who noticed my bandages and readily offered help—whether by holding doors open or assisting with my bags. Truly, I can’t recommend visiting Ghana enough. As a Zambian, I found an ease in experiencing a sense of home in Ghana. Every person I encountered was kind and openly generous. It was truly wonderful. I left with a new group of friends, an unexpected, but welcome, haul from Shoprite, and memories I’ll cherish forever. ABONTENNNN! Big thanks to Buoyant!

Briona is an exceptionally thoughtful & empathetic trip organiser who helped to craft a truly beautiful and well balanced trip for our group of 6. From the pre-departure preparation, to the actual trip itself, we had a wealth of information, direct communication channels and any and all of our concerns answered with the perfectly managed whatsapp group chat! She really helped to create an unforgettable experience for everyone — from the first time international traveller in our group, to those who had been to Ghana before. Bri’s knowledge about Accra and Ghanaian culture & food is akin to that of a local. Briona works on the ground with local tour guides, service providers and restaurants to ensure every tourism dollar goes into the local economy. The itinerary included a mix of relaxing, partying, cultural activities, good food and educational experiences. No trip happens without its hiccups — when I unfortunately fell sick due to my allergies, Bri was right by my side at the local hospital until 4am with zero complaints. This is the absolute attention and care that not every organised trip host will provide. Last but certainly not least, the group was absolutely second to none - could not have asked for a more beautiful group of like-minded girlies. To sum up, I came on this trip with 3 friends, and left with 6 🥰
