“This was my third trip with Buoyant Travel, and just like the others, it was unforgettable. The accommodation was top-notch, the communication was seamless from start to finish, and the attention to detail was next level…”

Your Itinerary

Don’t worry, we handle everything. You just show up and enjoy.

  • Welcome to Buenos Aires. Your home for the next week.

We’ll pick you up from the airport (plan to arrive at EZE airport by 4 PM) and whisk you to our cozy boutique hotel in the heart of the city.

Settle in and get ready for our evening, which begins with an Afro–Mate Tasting in community with local activists, followed by a private chef-led welcome dinner, where you’ll get your first taste of how Blackness is woven into Argentina’s DNA.

    Meals: Dinner

  • This morning, we explore San Telmo with members of the local Afro-Argentine community, uncovering the African roots woven into Buenos Aires' buildings, stories, and streets.

From the Maria Remedios del Valle Monument to the old slave trading quarters, we'll hear the history that gets left out of guidebooks, straight from the people keeping it alive.

Tonight: dinner at the only African restaurant in Buenos Aires (owned by a Cameroonian chef), followed by a vibrant local party that celebrates Afro-diasporic culture through music, dance, and community.

  • We start with an artist-led creative collage workshop exploring ancestry and family archives, a reflective space to create something personal while connecting with memory and lineage.

Then we join the National Day of Afro-Argentines march: drums, dance, banners, and collective power filling the streets. It's part celebration, part political statement, and Black AF.

  • A day to rest or explore Buenos Aires at your own pace.

Optional tours available to La Boca (exploring port life and working-class histories) or Recoleta (reexamining elite spaces through a decolonial lens).

This is the perfect day to pull up your Buoyant Buenos Aires map and let it guide you around the city.

  • We leave the capital for Chascomús to visit the Capilla de los Negros, a historic chapel built and sustained by the Afro-Argentine community in the 19th century. It's a powerful space of memory, spirituality, and resistance.

Then we spend the afternoon at a traditional estancia experiencing gaucho (cowboy) culture: lunch, nature hikes through the Pampas, at a slower pace, surrounded by history and landscape.

  • The Bonga family leads our candombe workshop, one of the most important references of Afro-porteño candombe. This immersive encounter with a living Afro-Argentine tradition combines rhythm, movement, and storytelling.

Learn about the African roots of candombe in Buenos Aires, its evolution alongside migration and resistance, and its role in shaping local culture through hands-on percussion and collective music-making.

Later that evening: private tango lesson at a beloved local studio, learning the steps while tracing tango's connection to Afro rhythms.

Then we head to an authentic milonga to practice with locals and experience where the tradition actually lives.

  • We visit the Cape Verdean community of Dock Sud, one of Argentina's most significant Afro-descendant communities.

Share Cachupa (Cape Verde's traditional dish), step into the community kitchen, and hear stories of migration, resilience, and cultural preservation.

For those departing today, we’ll get you to the airport after lunch (depending on your departure time—try to book in the evening).

If you’re headed to Mendoza with us, we’ll catch an evening flight.

  • November 12: Evening flight to Mendoza

November 13: Wine Blending & Vineyard Tour

Full day at Tempus Alba Bodega learning their 20+ year Malbec clonal selection project, touring the production areas, and creating your own custom wine blend.

You'll bottle it, label it, and take it home. Plus a 5-course lunch paired with their reserve wines.

November 14: Olive Oil & Wine Country

Morning visit to an olive mill to learn the production process and taste different varieties.

Then we head to Santa Julia Winery (Zuccardi Family), one of Mendoza's most renowned, for a tour and tasting, followed by a multi-course lunch at Finca Agostino Winery.

    November 15: Departure

Morning transfer to the airport. Safe travels, kinfolk.

My trip to Dakar with Buoyant Travel was honestly unforgettable. Everything was so thoughtfully curated. From the fabulous hotel stay to an itinerary that struck the perfect balance between culture, relaxation, and connection. I loved that we had the chance to share a homecooked meal with a local Senegalese family, such a rare and intimate experience that gave real depth to the journey. From the rich history of Gorée Island to vibrant markets, soulful food, and meaningful conversations, the whole trip felt intentional, joyful, and deeply rooted in culture. Buoyant Travel truly delivered something unique. This was more than a holiday, it was an experience that will stay with me. ✨

I was so excited to see that Buoyant was taking an inaugural trip to Dakar, Senegal after following Briona's journey online for several years. I was BLOWN AWAY by the experience from start to finish. As a frequent traveler, I had very high expectations before coming on this trip but Briona & Buoyant exceeded all of them! Every activity on the itinerary was so well curated and I love that we experienced activities off the "beaten path." The accommodations were excellent and the city map she provided was extremely well researched. Throughout the trip, Briona was communicative and kept a cool head even when some activities were outside of her control. I enjoyed the guides and meeting the other ladies on the trip. Most importantly, I felt so inspired throughout the trip and grateful that we were able to support local and Black-owned businesses throughout our stay; Briona nailed it! All this to say, I HIGHLY recommend Buoyant Travel for Black women travelers who want to experience luxury while exploring cool across the Diaspora! I can't wait to travel with Buoyant again!
